Facebook Messenger Unsend feature gives you 10 minutes to take it back

Twitter user Matt Navarra shared what he found when he spotted this feature - and its time limit - being listed as "coming soon".

If you're too drunk to realize you're sending messages to someone late at night, you're probably too drunk to remember you have 10 minutes to delete them.

Other messaging services, including Facebook's own WhatsApp, have the same option, though it gives users an hour to delete any embarrassing/drunken/threatening communications. It'll only let you unsend messages for up to 10 minutes after you first send them. At least, that's how its worked for users whose name isn't Mark Zuckerberg.

The option to unsend messages on Facebook Messenger is coming soon, the social network giant recently confirmed.

Facebook is finally following suit and adding the feature to its Messenger app.

In addition to saying it would no longer be deleting execs' messages, Facebook said the unsend feature would be rolling out to all users at a later date. This gives the recipient the opportunity to read the messages, even if you decide to take it back within the timeframe its eligible to be "unsent".

"Remove a message from a chat thread after it's been sent".

Ten minutes seems like a reasonable time period.
