Ubisoft teases post-apocalyptic Far Cry project

There's going to be a lot of fallout from this teaser

There's going to be a lot of fallout from this teaser

Naturally, we watch it every year.

It appears that the fictional Montana region of Hope County from Far Cry 5 has been obliterated by a nuke (those on staff who finished the game say that is how it ended) and that some period of devastation and recovery follows. This year, it looks like viewers will be treated to the reveal of a brand new Far Cry experience. This new Far Cry game takes place in a reimagined world.

The next Far Cry game is set in a post-apocalyptic future, set after the events of Far Cry 5 going by the teaser shown. We don't know how much of it we'll see at The Game Awards, but this could be pretty cool. However you felt about it, looks like the next Far Cry offering will pick up right where those explosions left off, in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. In other words, I don't expect the company to announce Far Cry 6 (it's not impossible but I will really be surprised if it does).

Plus, it's not hard to imagine an ending to Far Cry 5 where the Elder's Gate cult get their hands on a nuclear bomb, and do the unthinkable. What's far more likely is that Ubisoft is teasing some kinda Far Cry 5 spin-off or DLC, something in the vein of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. We'll report more on this new project when it is formally revealed at The Game Awards tomorrow night.
