Potentially dangerous infant ibuprofen sold at Walmart CVS and Family Dollar

A company is recalling its infant ibuprofen product because of concerns it contains a higher concentration of the drug than advertised.

Tris Pharma said there is a "remote possibility" the increased amount of ibuprofen could lead to permanent kidney injury in infants.

Other side effect may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or more rarely, diarrhea.

But Tris Pharma, the pharmaceutical company says there haven't been any reports of people getting sick, yet. "Tinnitus, headache and gastrointestinal bleeding".

According to the statement, the lots ian infant ibuprofen oral suspension that were used as a pain reliever/fever reducer.

The recall affects bottles with national drug codes 49035-125-23, 59779-925-23 and 55319-250-23.

CVS Pharmacy: The expiration date includes 08/19.

Tris Pharma, Inc. sold the affected lots of Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP (NSAID) 50 mg per 1.25 mL to one customer, which distributed the lots into the US market. Tris Pharma did not specify which states might have received the products.

For example, it's labeled as "Equate" at Walmart, "CVS Health" at CVS and "Family Wellness" at Family Dollar, CBS News reports.

Customers experiencing problems with the medication should contact their doctors or health-care providers, according to a statement.

"This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration".
