Smash Ultimate's next Spirit event is the retro-themed 'Playing with Spirit Power'

What was common between both leaks was that they listed the Dragon Quest hero Erdrick as one of the DLC characters and now datamine of the game files confirms that there is indeed a character named after him in the game files.

First off, courageous is a possible direct translation of the Japanese word "Yuusha", which itself is the name of the Hero class from older Dragon Quest titles.

According to reports, Nintendo's fighting game could see the addition of Erdrick as a playable fighter, Dragon Quest's Slim mascot appearing on screen, and the level being Alefgard.

Yet another leak suggests that Super Smash Bros.

This connection makes more sense when you consider that several Smash characters have Japanese names in their parameters, including other downloadable characters.

Serving as another clever tribute to the lush history of the company, Nintendo has announced a spirit board event for Nintendo Switch's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate along with the upcoming DLC would be fearless which could be a reference to a Dragon Quest hero. It's possible this is just a code name taken from Jack Frost, the winter sprite who is basically the face of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise which Persona branched off from, or maybe Joker's name was just flattened in translation.
