Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign French World Cup victor Benjamin Pavard from Stuttgart this summer.

Pavard enjoyed an impressive World Cup in Russian Federation, scoring a spectacular goal in his country's win over Argentina in the round of 16.

However, they have struggled this season and sit in 16th place in the Bundesliga.

Pavard played a key role in France's World Cup win at Russian Federation 2018 and reports of a move to Bayern have persisted since, although both parties have previously denied any agreement.

Pavard, 22, has been linked with Bundesliga champions Bayern since winning the World Cup with France last summer and will complete a move in July after a €35 million release clause was triggered.

"He is young and a world champion, so we are happy and proud to have won over such a player", said Bayern's sports director Hasan Salihamidzic at their winter training camp in Doha.

The defender, who can play at centre-back as well as right-back, moved to the Bundesliga from Lille in 2016 and soon established himself as a star man for Stuttgart, starting all 34 league games last season.

Pavard is Bayern's first signing for the 2019-2020 season.

Bayern are now on their annual winter training camp in Doha as they prepare for the second half of the Bundesliga campaign.
