There were 750 deaths and 7,999 injuries in 11,187 accidents last year in the country of 11 million

The victims included two Argentinean women, aged 35, a 59-year-old German woman and a 67-year-old Frenchman, according to a list published by Radio Guantánamo.

DAMASCUS - The Syrian air defenses intercepted most of the missiles launched by Israeli warplanes on areas near the capital Damascus on Friday night, the Syrian army said.

Eighteen Cubans and 22 tourists were on board the coach when it crashed between the eastern cities of Baracoa and Guantánamo. Five people were also critically injured.

The names and nationalities of those killed have not been released.

Two British tourists were injured while onboard with local travellers and visitors from the Netherlands, France, Mexico and Canada.

The driver, in turn, stated that he had lost control of the bus because the road surface was too wet, insisting that he was driving at a low speed and did not interact with other vehicles.

The road is said to be one of the most unsafe in Cuba, where roads are poorly maintained and accidents are frequent, correspondents say.

A spokesperson for the UK's Foreign Office said: 'We are seeking information from the Cuban authorities following a road traffic accident, and are ready to assist any British people who require our help'.
