Your Tri State Snow

Your Tri State Snow

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place for Cook, DuPage, Kane, DeKalb, Kendall, Grundy and LaSalle and Will Counties in IL and all of Northwest Indiana until 3 a.m. Sunday. After one batch of snow earlier Saturday afternoon, the worst of our weather comes in Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Across the Midwest, thousands were without power Saturday due to a winter storm.

The NWS is advising those in Washington, DC, Central Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Eastern West Virginia to stay indoors. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Forecasters say a brief period of mixing to sleet and rain may occur Sunday evening before precipitation changes back to snow before ending late Sunday night. This action does not apply to individuals or private businesses.

However, another band of snow will pass through later tonight with another couple inches of accumulation possible. Midway International Airport saw 3.7 inches, while downstate Pontiac received Illinois' highest total at 9.3.

Winter weather is impacting travel across Virginia this Sunday.

Crews first focus efforts on roads that carry the most traffic, such as interstates and primary roads, followed by major secondary roads with vital emergency and public facilities, and other secondary roads and subdivision streets, VDOT said.
