Vicky Kaushal's latest military drama "Uri" helmed and written by Aditya Dhar has minted a good amount of ₹8.20 crore on its first at the box office. According to The Quint's Stutee Ghosh Kaushal, in his "all guns blazing avatar, plays his role with exactly the right amount of vigour and vulnerability".

The movie is based on the 2016 Indian Army's surgical strikes inside Pakistan as a retaliation for the Uri terrorist attack.

Apart from Vicky, the film also stars Paresh Rawal as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Yami Gautam as a no-nonsense interrogation officer. But since yesterday, the kind of reaction we have received is really overwhelming. The fact that it got released ahead of 2019 elections, has made many label it as a propaganda film. While Kedarnath marked actor Sushant Singh Rajput's biggest hit of his career, Uri is all set to record Vicky's biggest hit. The film is directed by debutant Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under his banner RSVP Movies. Simmba featuring Ranveer Singh still going strong and also giving a tough competition to this weekend's movies. The film is expected to collect around Rs 3 crore as its opening box office collection.

Uri has been released along with Anupam Kher starrer The Accidental Prime Minister which will disperse their audience.
