It was her weekend anyway, as her fifth album, Thank U, Next, dropped and dominated large swaths of social discourse.

The singer, who celebrated the release of her latest album, Thank U, Next, revealed in a new interview that she nearly didn't name drop her exes, but her breakup with Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson led her to include his name along with exes Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez and late rapper Mac Miller on the song. She also took to Instagram to share the news with her fans. In view of her 60.7 million Twitter followers, Ariana tweeted: "trash", followed up by "f***" and said "bull****" in a third tweet.

She continued: 'I offered 3 different songs.

"Nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i'm sorry", she later wrote on Twitter.

Mac Miller, real name Malcolm McCormick, was 26 when he passed away at his San Fernando Valley, California, on 7 September past year, from a drug overdose.

She won the best pop vocal album trophy for Sweetner beating Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

Her absence was even more pronounced when, right before the telecast, the Recording Academy announced her previous album, Sweetener, had taken the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Grande quickly elaborated, saying that she "wished it had worked" for her to be in attendance, adding that she tries "not to put too much weight into these things", though she was clearly disappointed to not be there in person.

This is Grande's first Grammy.

The Bronx rapper sported a white floor-length gown which sat off the shoulders.

The Bronx rapper's debut studio album Invasion of Privacy beat Pusha-T (DAYTONA), Nipsey Hussle (Victory Lap), Travis Scott (ASTROWORLD), and the late Mac Miller (Swimming), who had dated Grande for almost two years.

She thanked him in her acceptance speech, as well as their seven-month-old daughter, Kulture.
