Sunday night: Cloudy with snow possible after midnight, mainly from NYC and points south.

The statement said a mix of snow and ice pellets should touch down overnight on Monday.

Generally, 3 to 6 inches of snowfall is expected for much of the region.

The Midwest and Northeast will only have a little break between snow events. Most models are in agreement that we will not climb above freezing until late afternoon - early evening on Tuesday which would be the worst case scenario.

One county official warned the storm could be a "once every decade or two occurrence", CBS News' Carter Evans reported.

In addition to snow-packed, slippery roadways, blowing and drifting snow can create whiteout conditions as winds strengthen around the storm.

Now, day 12 of February appears to be bringing back the snow - and a lot of it at that. And it also nearly hit double digits in the city.

More than six inches of snow fell at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Meanwhile, enough rain may fall to aggravate the flooding situation from Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky, to the southern portions of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

Any threat for freezing rain Monday night into Tuesday morning will be confined to far northwestern Virginia. Then our next round of snow showers begins to move in!
