Leeds' Jack Clarke taken to hospital after collapsing during Boro clash

The youngster was taken unwell during the Whites game against Middlesbrough and had to be stretchered off the bench, but his agent later tweeted that Clarke was fine after spending some time in hospital.

The Championship game was stopped for seven minutes due to the incident and it has been confirmed that Clarke was taken to hospital for further assessment.

Clarke's agent, the former Leeds defender Ian Harte, said: 'We'd like to thank Middlesbrough's medical team, and also everyone involved at James Cook Hospital, where the staff have been brilliant.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa played down concerns about Clarke's well being after the worrying scenes.

In a statement on their website, Leeds said: "The player is responsive and attending hospital with the club's head of medicine and performance".

Clarke has since been released but chief executive Angus Kinnear has informed fans of the decision taken by the club.

"We don't know the reasons yet". "All our thoughts go to the lad Clarke". He has scored two goals and added two assists for Leeds in the English second division.

They sit a point ahead of Norwich who face rivals Ipswich on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Main Event HD and Sky Sports Football HD.

Sheffield United lie in third position - three points off Leeds - after missing a golden opportunity of going top themselves surrendering a 3-0 lead on Friday to be held 3-3 by Aston Villa.

Clarke has featured 16 times in the Championship this season for Bielsa's side, and received his fourth start of the league season in the contest.
