Edwards, a 6-5 wing from Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta and a McDonalds All-American, is spurning the likes of Kentucky and Florida State to make his pledge for UGA. "On my visit we watched film together, and he talks with so much energy".

"I went to a game and I felt the fans in the gym, everybody showing love, and I felt like I was home", Edwards continued.

Edwards ultimately chose to pick Georgia over Florida State and Kentucky during his commitment process and is planning to bring a National Championship to Athens, turning a new leaf for an improving program that's had a shaky start to Crean's coaching tenure at Georgia.

Adding Edwards helped boost the Bulldogs in the 2019 recruiting rankings, all the way up to No. 12. He is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the nation by 247 Sports, but No.2 by 247 Sports Composite. Edwards announced he was staying home and put the rest of the SEC and college basketball on notice that Georgia will be for real next season. That does still rank one spot behind the 2019 Texas basketball recruiting class.

In his first year of coaching the Bulldogs, Crean has deep ties to Wade, whom he coached while at Marquette from 2001-2003 and instructed Victor Oladipo at IN from 2010-2013. In a recent ESPN mock draft for 2020, Edwards is selected No. 2 behind Jaden McDaniels.

A few of the notable programs that weren't included in the finalists for Edwards were the Florida Gators, Kansas Jayhawks, Michigan State Spartans, Memphis Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Virginia Cavaliers, and UNC Tar Heels. He joins consensus four-star prospects Jaykwon Walton, who is a former Miss State commit, and Toumani Camara.
