Google Duplex assistant is coming to more states and restaurants

As for the states that where Duplex now isn't available - Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska and Texas - Google says that it is working with local and state laws to ensure that it bring the service to residents.

When Google debuted Duplex tech at Google IO 2018, the feature - again, simply live-demonstrating its ability to make phone reservations - wowed the crowd. This latter was also a concern with Google's Call Screen feature for Android which was later addressed by providing transcripts of the call. It announced that Duplex is now available for all Pixel owners in 43 states. Now you'll be able to use it in 43 U.S. states and, in the coming weeks, it's expanding to non-Pixel Android and iOS devices, as per a Google blog post.

What Duplex lets you do is to make reservations without actually talking to the restaurant you've chosen.

How does Google Duplex work? Google Assistant handles everything once you issue your command.

All you have to do for that magic to happen is tell your phone something along the lines of "Book a table for four people at [restaurant name] tomorrow night".

Google isn't limiting its service to just one set of users: Businesses can benefit from Duplex by allowing customers to book through Google Assistant, while customers can call businesses to inquire about information or an appointment.

Once a reservation/appointment is successfully booked, you'll receive a confirmation notification (via phone and email) along with a calendar invite.

What you need to know is that the Assistant will always identify itself when making a call, and the calls will be recorded.
