Giants' Dave Gettleman: We wish Odell Beckham, Olivier Vernon the best

While the Giants knew they would need to find a replacement at quarterback sooner rather than later since Eli Manning isn't getting any younger, the two-time Super Bowl MVP's successor was expected to be in great shape with Beckham and Saquon Barkley to work with.

Jabrill Peppers, who starred at MI before he was drafted by the Browns with the 25th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, was sent to NY in return, along with the No. 17 overall pick in April's draft and the third-round pick the Giants got from the Patriots. Beckham finished the game with 12 targets for five receptions, 38 yards and zero touchdowns.

If the Cavs can luck into a top draft pick in the upcoming 2019 NBA Draft, they could be well on their way to being considered one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA.

Manning set a career-high for completion percentage (66 percent) a year ago, but the eye test has shown a cooked quarterback for about three seasons.

Meanwhile, the return for Beckham was more substantial.

The Browns future is clearly more bright than the rebuilding Giants. Cleveland had already signed defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson and traded guard Kevin Zeitler to the Giants for the services of defensive end Olivier Vernon, so the defense is stout. He's spent his entire National Football League career in New York City playing for the Giants.

One can imagine what Giants fans think of the move.
