Netflix has announced that the comedy One Day At a Time will not be returning for Season 4.

One Day at a Time's cancellation is, without a doubt, a big blow for LGBTQ representation in TV.

Starring Rita Moreno, Justina Machado, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Todd Grinnell, Sheridan Pierce and Stephen Tobolowsky, the sitcom is about members of the Cuban-American Alvaraz family, who live and work in California.

The first three seasons of the series are now streaming, with Season 3 featuring new characters including Gloria Estefan as Mirtha, Danny Pino as Tito along with Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero as Pilar and Estrellita.

In addition to Calderon-Kellet and Royce, Lear served as executive producer along with Michael Garcia and Brent Miller. 'We worked with the best, most giving and talented cast, writers and crew ever, as well as the incomparable Norman Lear.

In a statement, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said, "This was a very hard decision and we're thankful to all the fans who've supported the series, our partners at Sony, and all the critics who embraced it".

Meanwhile, all 3 seasons of "One Day at a Time" are available to stream now on Netflix.

Netflix's Twitter statement concluded, "And to anyone who felt seen or represented - possibly for the first time - by ODAAT, please don't take this as an indication your story is not important".

One Day's third season ended with Penelope's graduation from nursing school. "The outpouring of love for this show is a firm reminder to us that we must continue finding ways to tell these stories".

"And I can't thank Netflix and our partners at Sony enough for the three season, but I wish I could understand Netflix' decision to not pick us up for a fourth". One Day at a Time is produced by Sony, which makes it a little more complicated, but E!
