Page's statement "makes former US attorney general Loretta Lynch look blatantly dishonest", says the Washington Examiner's Quin Hillyer.

Strzok, who was involved in the investigation into Clinton's use of private email servers and later in the FBI's controversial probe into then-candidate Donald Trump's alleged ties with Russian Federation, spoked to the House Judiciary Committee in June previous year.

Per the senator's statement, he also wants the Justice Department to investigate "the abuse of the FISA warrant process against [former Trump campaign aide] Carter Page".

(FoxNews.com) Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page admitted under questioning from Texas Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe last summer that "the FBI was ordered by the Obama DOJ not to consider charging Hillary Clinton for gross negligence in the handling of classified information", the congressman alleged in a social media post late Tuesday, citing a newly unearthed transcript of Page's closed-door testimony. It could be construed as a convenient excuse for a cover-up, but she continued, "The Clinton investigation was whether she mishandled classified information".

Strzok waged a similar defense during a contentious public hearing in July of past year.

In the transcript, Strzok said the debate over how aggressively to investigate the campaign explained the backstory of a cryptic August 15, 2016, text message he sent Page that has long attracted Republican attention.

Strzok testified that Hillary Clinton and the Department of Justice seemingly struck a deal that blocked the Federal Bureau of Investigation from accessing her private, home-brew email server for information relevant to the Clinton Foundation.

The transcript shows Strzok was asked about decisions made during the Clinton probe, including then-FBI Director James B. Comey's efforts to draft a memo explaining his rationale for not prosecuting Clinton in advance of interviewing her. Strzok said he was aware of no similar effort to draft a memo explaining a potential decision to charge Clinton ahead of her interview.

Strzok recalled that he disagreed that a candidate's electability should be part of the equation. "And equally, if they aren't guilty of anything, that's also important", Strzok said.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) blocked that resolution when it reached the Senate, calling for an investigation into Hillary Clinton to be undertaken first. McCabe has said he could not recall such a meeting taking place.
