The Red Notice was reportedly issued for the former Saudi Deputy Intelligence Chief Ahmed al Asiri, and Saud al Qahtani, an advisor to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. He gave no names or other details, however, as the suspects' identities have not yet been made public.

Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Aiban replied simply that the case was "in the courts" in Saudi Arabia when asked by a reporter to respond to calls that the kingdom accept global support in investigating the killing.

Expressing Turkey's deep concerns about Bandar bin Mohammed Al Aiban's objection to an worldwide probe, Altun said they couldn't understand why a human rights official would refuse and be unsettled by efforts to bring the circumstances surrounding Khashoggi's death to light, especially after a united global call. The suspects, dubbed as the execution team who returned to Saudi Arabia after killing Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018, will now be sought for arrest throughout the world.

He said the kingdom would not accept what he termed as foreign interference in its domestic affairs and judicial system.

If Saudi Arabia refuses to address these serious human rights concerns through the UPR, we urge the 36 States which presented the joint statement this session to ensure stronger measures are put in place through a resolution. In a statement read by Iceland's United Nations ambassador Harald Aspelund, the group said, "Investigations into the killing must be prompt, effective and thorough, independent and impartial, and transparent".

Riyadh, in turn, initially denied any knowledge of the journalist's whereabouts, but later admitted that Khashoggi had been killed with a drug injection and his body had been dismembered and taken out of the consulate.

Al-Aiban described the murder as an "unfortunate accident".

The human rights review coincided with reports from Yemeni military officials that the Saudi-led coalition launched airstrikes which mistakenly killed and wounded forces allied with the government, who the coalition support.

"They are hiding the name for the person who ordered this operation".
