Milos Raonic made sure Miomir Kecmanovic's good luck finally ran out at the BNP Paribas Open.

Raonic beat the 19-year-old Serb 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals and improve to 19-4 at Indian Wells since 2014.

Raonic, ranked 14th in the world, fired 13 aces and broke Kecmanovic once in each set to keep his bid to better his 2016 runner-up finish on track.

Raonic will face the victor of a match between No. 18 seed Gael Monfils of France and No. 7 seed Dominic Thiem of Austria in a semi-final.

Women: Belinda Bencic bt Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 4-6, 6-3; Angelique Kerber bt Venus Williams 7-6 (3), 6-3. "Because I was playing great tennis, feeling strong". Bencic has now won 15 of her last 17 matches overall and has won seven straight matches that have gone the distance. "The court heats up a little bit".

Mari Osaka, a year-older than her 21-year-old sister who has shot to the top of the rankings thanks to back-to-back Grand Slam titles at the USA and Australian Opens, has twice played in WTA doubles made draws, most recently with Naomi at the 2017 Toray Pan Pacific Open.

Though she lost serve to begin the second set, Kerber rebounded immediately as the two traded breaks twice in the second set, before she won the last three games to seal the match and her spot in the final. Kerber held to force the tiebreaker, which she dominated.

Bencic was pushed to three sets Thursday for the first time in four matches at this tournament.

The 22-year-old Swiss was coming off a straight-set upset of defending champion and top-ranked Naomi Osaka in the fourth round and improved to an impressive 18-3 this year, including 12 wins on the spin.

"Physically, it was tough somehow, and the wind didn't help much", Pliskova said.

Raonic is looking for his ninth career ATP Tour title, but has never won at the top level below Grand Slams - Masters 1000. Kerber also has a shot to make her first ever final appearance in a Premier Mandatory. The players then exchanged breaks before Andreescu won two games in a row to go up 5-3.

"When you're confident, you can really just trust your instincts and you don't have to think about it at all".
