The clash followed a scathing response to Senator Anning's press release in which he appeared to deflect responsibility for Friday's attack from the gunmen to New Zealand's immigration program. While he was giving a press conference there, a 17-year-old boy who had sneaked into the event cracked an egg on Anning's head as a form of political protest.

In the footage, the shocked Anning turned and punched the boy in the face before the boy was pinned down by Anning's bodyguards.

Senator Anning responded: "Well he's obviously a little on the insane side, but yeah".

The Moorabbin local was taken into police custody, but later released without charge.

"Today's shootings in Christchurch highlight the growing fears within our community both in Australia and New Zealand over the increasing Muslim presence".

Australia's prime minister, Scott Morrison, tweeted that Anning's remarks on immigration were "disgusting".

Australia's prime minister Scott Morrison added: "Those views have no place in Australia, let alone the Australian Parliament".

The Australian government announced that it will censure a right-wing Queensland senator whose "ugly" and "appalling" remarks drew widespread criticism around the country and the world.

Anning finished by quoting a passage from the Bible and saying, "Those who follow a violent religion that calls on them to murder us (non-believers), can not be too surprised when someone takes them at their word and responds in kind".

Anning was speaking to media and reportedly talking about "fake refugees" and the "threat of immigration" when the violence broke out. "Muslims may have been the victims today, usually they are the perpetrators", he said in his controversial statement.

Social media users have been celebrating the courage an unnamed teen hero showed by slapping an egg on a far-right Australian Senator Fraser Anning at a conservative rally in Melbourne on Saturday.

Basically, his motivation behind the sly egging of Fraser Anning was a result of the politicians comments about the recent terrorist atrocity that killed 50 people in New Zealand.

But Anning did not have time to elaborate further.

"I wonder if there will be as much outrage from the left wing when the next Muslim terrorist attack occurs?" What did Anning say about the Christchurch attack?

As at the date of writing, more than 800,000 people have signed a change.org petition calling for Senator Anning to be removed from office.
